History of Naruta

At the beginning of time the earth was made; endowed with spirits known as the “elements”. There were only four of these beings, primarily, who went by the name of Erif, Retaw, Trae, and Ria. The four spirits formed the earth into hills, valleys, mountains and plains; rivers, ponds, oceans, and streams. They worked together to fill the world with vibrant colors and resonating sounds. They were happy with their work, but not content. They did not feel that the world was complete, but rather, that all the essential pieces had been lined up. After years of thoughts, if time could have counted then, the four spirits decided to blend together and finish the work that they had started. The quartet split themselves in half and set after two tasks: blending with one another to create new things, and tending to the originally created entities. Out of the new combination of spirits, demi-spirits, or the “forces”, emerged. The forces were given the names of Efil, Taed, Worg, Thuoth, Soahc, and Etaf. The forces were able to not only create new and astounding things, such as animals, flowers, trees, but were also able to govern their creations so that order was established where disarray had nearly found a foothold. However, Soahc felt that the perfection of everything was somehow wrong. He explained to his brothers and sisters that without imperfection, none of the creations would have anything to strive for and that they would wither and die. After much debate, the six Forces sought council of their parents, the Elements. The Elements decreed that it would be better to see their great work marred rather than completely destroyed, and granted Soahc the ability to disrupt perfection. Soahc at first used his gift wisely and justly. However, he had begun to grow dissatisfied with mere imperfection that he bestowed everything with. Yet, he said nothing, and his curiosity grew.

After the Elements decided that the world was nearly complete, they had reached the conclusion of their finale. They would allow the Forces to govern the world in the spirits’ stead, while the Elements departed outside of the cocoon in which their world was placed, so that they may keep a constant vigil over everything. They prepared to depart, when Efil and Etaf, two of the oldest of the Forces, beseeched their parents to give one last creation to the world. Efil declared that the beings most intelligent currently dwelling on the planet, which were the highest of the beasts, were not able to appreciate the world well enough. Etaf explained that while the animals were not ungrateful for their gifts, they were simply not aware of it. They had been created to coincide peacefully with all other things in the world, so that there would be no room for error. At this point, Soahc joined the conference with the Elements. He said that in order for the world to truly be imperfect, there had to be mortals of higher thinking. The Elements thought on this, and the four were able to conjure a vision of themselves. They made eight of these, four females and four males. The visions hovered only in thought before the Forces and the Elements. The elemental spirits declared that they would fill these mortals with their very essence, each one giving more than the others per person, and that the Forces were to give their own quintessence equally in the eight beings.

After the visions were given bodies to reside in, and reinforced with one of the Element spirit’s own sparks for each male and female, Efil kissed each one, and their eyes opened with existence. Taed overlapped Efil’s kiss and granted them with mortality. Worg passed through to them the ability to adapt and change, while Thuoth poured her heart and being to them, allowing them to think. Soach passed a hand over the brow of each and gave them recklessness, so that they would make mistakes. Etaf, however, did nothing for a long time. Finally she gave the eight beings only the slightest of touches.

With that, she announced, “I fear to do anymore than I have, lest the beings be unable to govern themselves. However, I will ascend with our Elemental parents so that I may watch over them from above, and do with them what I must so that there is always a balance in all things.”

Before the beings were broken from their suspended state, Soahc and Thuoth snuck near the beings and doubled their essence in them; each curious to see the effects of powers they had long kept in check. In their haste, Thuoth granted them free will and conscious, but her power spilled into two of the beings that had an unseen effect. Their minds were strengthened to a height of sheer power. Yet, Thuoth knew none of this excess ability. Soahc’s decision left a blacker mark. In four of the beings, he turned their souls dark, until a new Force was born within them. The Force called himself Evil. The new Force, however, refused to leave his bodily prison, and none of the Elements or Forces could extract him. Etaf, seeing an imbalance already, took Efil’s hand and passed it through the hearts of the unspoiled other four beings. Their eyes shone with the next new Force born, who called herself Love. Love, too, refused to leave the bodies of her host, and Etaf stated the beings balanced.

The Elements called the beings Humans, and smiled at their new creations. The humans looked just like the elements, other than their bodies were not consumed in radiance from any one spirit element. Instead, on their forehead was emblazoned the symbol of their dominating aspect. Red flames for Erif, a blue wave for Retaw, the green leaf for Trae, and a feather for Ria. They named the humans to be the mirrors of themselves, and thus mirrored their names in them as well. They were Fire, Water, Earth, and Air for the males, and Reif, Retwa, Thrae, and Ira for the females. Then, the elements departed into the void beyond the earth. There, they took the form of the wind, sun, night, and clouds.

The Forces were now in charge, and left the humans as they were. Yet, Worg was dissatisfied. Because of the single elements, her creations would not adapt to very much. She smiled and gave them more of her being, and allowed them create new elements, lesser elements, after more had been born. Then the Forces, too, departed and watched over the new races with expectant awe as the dawn of all things living began.

Four of the humans, being filled with Evil, departed from the remaining four and built their own homes on one side of the continent. The four filled with Love created homes on the other side, and all eight lived peacefully on their own. However, Evil hated Love, and filled his hosts with a loathing for those that had Love in their hearts. These humans had children, and Evil passed through them as well, and filled their hearts with hatred. Love’s humans had their own children, and she lived in these as well, teaching all the beauty of compassion and trust. After time, the humans warred with one another, and there were many deaths. Etaf, seeing this, created an odd phenomenon the happen. Some children of Evil found themselves with children of Love, and they had their own offspring. These offspring were a mix of mistrust and compassion, and other emotions. Soon the world was filled with the halfbreeds of Evil and Love, and there was peace again.

Also, as Worg had expected, new elements emerged. Ice, beast, and storm appeared through the mingling of blood. However, because of Thuoth, two peculiar elements became. There was the Mind, a rare element of telepaths, and then there were the more abundant Clears. The Clears were without any element at all, but possessed great amounts of the Forces within them. All those with an element were forced to obey a Clear without will or question. However, the Clears were banished by the elements, and for many centuries, the two never coincided. In time, though, some of the Clears made friendships with the Elements, and a new order was established.

Also, with their ability to adapt, there were humans that had more than one of the elements within them. They bore two or three different symbols on their bodies, and not always upon the forehead as their ancestors had.

All of this went on, and nobody thought much of their place in the world, or questioned why they were what they were. They all thought that it was Etaf, guiding their lives as was her job. Nobody, until now, that is.
